This month, we are reading Ayser Salman's The Wrong End of the Table: A Mostly Comic Memoir of a Muslim Arab American Woman Just Trying to Fit In. In this memoir/how-not-to guide, Salman traces her journey as she emigrates from Iraq to Columbus, Ohio; the isolation of being a Muslim in her own country after the 9/11 attacks; and finally, her emergence as a modern Arab American woman who embraces her cultural differences.
