This summer, PBS launched The GREAT American READ, celebrating America’s 100 best-loved novels. Readers are encouraged to vote for their favorite book by midnight on October 18th, and the book that readers voted #1 will be revealed on October 30th.

In addition to displaying some of the 100 novels on the PBS list, we’re offering copies of the list so you can keep track of your reading. Be sure to collect a GREAT American READ button and bookmark at the front counter when you buy your first book from us (while supplies last).

Best of all, we invite you to join our All Alexandria Adults Read Summer Book Club, which is reading one of the GREAT American READ books: The Intuitionist by Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Colson Whitehead. This marvelously inventive novel, set in the curious world of elevator inspection, portrays a universe parallel to our own, where matters of morality, politics, and race reveal unexpected ironies.
