Important news & deadlines for the 2024 holidays

Dear Reader,

For the holidays, we’ve stocked up more than 14,000 books, along with fabulous games, puzzles, toys, and more for all ages. Throughout the month, we’ll have super sales, fun giveaways, raffles, and thank-you gifts for shopping local. We want to see you early and often!

Remember: We offer free gift wrapping and we’re sharing the cost of mailing.

Here are important dates to keep in mind as the holidays approach:

  • Dec 9 – last day to purchase gift certificates

  • Dec 11 – last day to order books that you will be mailing

  • Dec 13 – last day to order books that you will be giving in person

  • Dec 24 – time is ticking for last-minute shopping! Store hours are 10 AM to 6 PM

  • Dec 25 – closed for the holidays

  • Dec 31 – last day for shopping and picking up special orders; using gift certificates, store credits, and Bookstore Booster Club rewards; returning and exchanging merchandise

  • Jan 1 – closed for New Year’s Day

We will remain closed in 2025, because our landlord is not extending the bookstore’s lease. They have plans to remodel the space for their own use. Hooray for Books! will not be sold or relocating – it’s time to conclude our story.

We’re thankful for the support and love we’ve received from loyal customers and bookish friends during our nearly 17 years in business. You’ve helped us survive the Great Recession, multiple flash floods, and the COVID Pandemic. Endings are hard to write, but now’s the time to do just that.

If you’re wondering what to do if you can’t come in before Jan 1 to pick up your order; use your gift certificate, store credit, or Bookstore Booster Club reward; or return/exchange merchandise, here’s what we can do for you:

  • Special orders – call the store before Jan 8 to pay over the phone and give us a mailing address

  • Gift certificates – call the store before Jan 8 to get a refund either on a credit card or by check. If you miss the Jan 8 deadline, mail your gift certificate to the store (it’ll be forwarded to a mail box) and provide the name and address of the person to receive a check refund

  • Store credit – call the store before Jan 8 to get a refund by check

  • Bookstore Booster Club reward – this is a reward for being a frequent buyer and is not redeemable for cash

  • Return/exchange merchandise – all sales are final as of 6 PM Dec 31; we’ll be clearing out our space so the landlord can get to work
